He doesn’t understand a word I say
Not even ‘I missed you.’ or ‘How was your day?’
Yet he smiles so sweetly
His focus completely on me
I can’t understand, lost in translation
But I don’t feel myself losing patience
For we have our ways
Like the way I’m holding his gaze
I run my fingers through his hair
For it means that I care
He caresses my cheek
On the days I feel weak
I wrap my arms around his waist
When he’s feeling out-of-place
He leaves kisses on my forehead in reply
And as long as we understand
No one else needs to know why
Not even ‘I missed you.’ or ‘How was your day?’
Yet he smiles so sweetly
His focus completely on me
I can’t understand, lost in translation
But I don’t feel myself losing patience
For we have our ways
Like the way I’m holding his gaze
I run my fingers through his hair
For it means that I care
He caresses my cheek
On the days I feel weak
I wrap my arms around his waist
When he’s feeling out-of-place
He leaves kisses on my forehead in reply
And as long as we understand
No one else needs to know why
